Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) in Trust Services
A key role is traditionally played by trust services in Liechtenstein. The economic significance, the socio-political dimensions and the rapid development of the parameters relating to this dynamic branch of industry have increased demands on professionals in the fiduciary sector. International client liaison and support requires a solid knowledge of legal and tax issues as well as matters regarding establishing and managing businesses and the corresponding interaction with authorities and government offices. Those aspiring to a position in the fiduciary sector must have at their disposal, in addition to social and business skills, corresponding knowledge of the various areas intrinsic to this profession. In consideration of these constraints, the Hochschule Liechtenstein offers the Trust Services Programme, which prepares the participants for a qualified position in a fiduciary activity. Highest priorities are the practical approach, current relevance and the teaching of pertinent subject matter.
Educational Goal
Participants acquire a basic knowledge of law, taxes and economics as well as asset management and investment counselling. In addition, issues specifically pertaining to Liechtenstein are included. Graduates acquire demonstrated professional expertise qualifying them to assist and advise clients within the framework of Liechtenstein trust services.
The Hochschule programme may, in connection with the post-graduate programme in Trust Services, serve as preparation for the Liechtenstein professional trustees examination (admission to the Liechtenstein trust services examination is in accordance with article 2 of the Ordinance on the Professional Trustee Examination, LGBl 1995 no. 182, in conjunction with article 2 of the Professional Trustees Act). Furthermore, the Hochschule programme in connection with the post-graduate Trust Services Programme can qualify for a certification as “Diplomierter liechtensteinischer Treuhand-Experte” (Certified Liechtenstein Fiduciary Expert).
Participants
The Hochschule programme is open to candidates with a completed commercial apprenticeship and working in the fiduciary sector; bachelor’s, master’s and diploma programme graduates (with law or economics concentration); holders of foreign diplomas focussing on trust services or taxes; certified accountants or auditors; banking professionals (see article 2 of Professional Trustees Act, LGBl 1993 no. 42). The programme is also open to interns exhibiting comparable applicable professional experience. Professional experience in the area of trust services is beneficial. Knowledge of accounting is required.
