PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT FOR BACHELOR’S PROGRAM
A condition of admission to the bachelor’s program at the Hochschule Liechtenstein is that evidence is provided of prior work experience totaling 400 hours. For those with a school-leaving certificate but no technical training, it is preferable for this practical professional experience to be in the form of a construction site placement in a building or related industry. Training in a technical construction-related field or at a construction school is recognized by the Hochschule Liechtenstein as counting as prior professional experience.
PROFESSIONAL INTERNSHIP WITHIN BACHELOR’S PROGRAM
The professional internship module serves to bring together theory and practice and is run as a multi-semester seminar. After the start of the studies and before completing the bachelor’s program, evidence of 540 hours of work experience must be gained. Depending of the individual’s study arrangements, these 540 hours may be worked over the six semesters of the bachelor’s program, or as a block during the university vacations. It is preferable for them to be worked in an architectural practice.
The individual placements must be arranged by the students themselves. The Hochschule Liechtenstein supports the students in their search for an internship, by passing on offers of placements made to the Hochschule via the student home page and also displaying them in the Institute of Architecture and Planning. It is the student's responsibility to comply with all current legal regulations governing the working contracts for the fulfillment of the required professional internships. The Hochschule Liechtenstein declines all responsibility and liability in this regard.
Before the start of the placement, the Hochschule Liechtenstein makes a written agreement with the employer and the student. This written agreement B01 is to be presented to the module supervisor for approval of the internship before the placement begins. During the internship, an obligatory supervision meeting is to be held with the head of the work experience module to discuss details pertaining to the internship.
After completion of the internship, the students present and document the work done (Cover Sheet Documentation B02 and Description Documentation B04) to a board consisting of a representative of the course leadership, an external expert and the head of the professional internship module. The work placement is then assessed and audited by this board. This places the experience gathered and used during the internship in the context of the student’s individual curriculum and assesses it against this background. Work experience is thus an important and integral part of the education provided by the Hochschule.
