10 houses in the village of Tschiertschen/GR have burnt down. This is the point of origin to re-plan the centre of the Walser village.
To do this we will apply a promising Holiday concept, in which guests live in the locals`
houses. The spacious timber houses are being rebuilt considering present-day requirements and contain flats and rooms for vistors in addition to the residential demands of the owners. Guest accomodation is equipped diversely. It is possible to cook in the flat or to dine in the public restaurant. The local shop and post office, which are burnt down as well, will be reerected and a new village square shall be planned.
Alongside the question of the Novelty of the Architecture and the building technology there arises the question of integration into the village structure. Furthermore we are looking for a kind of present day timber construction, which shall establish itself as a typology.
The assignment is supperted by the Institutes of Building Mechanical Systems and Material Technology.
